Programs
We want visitors to combine our program offerings for a customized learning experience. We work closely with partners to design hands-on activities in agriculture, wellness, and ecology to train practical skills, nurture connection, and reclaim lasting benefits.

Agriculture
Our agriculture programming focuses on building practical, accessible skills for growing food in urban, suburban, and limited-space environments. Participants learn techniques that support self-sufficiency, resilience, and food access while strengthening connections to land and community.

Programming emphasizes affordable approaches, seasonal growing, and shared knowledge, helping participants build confidence and capacity to grow food wherever they live.

Learning Sites

AWE programming takes place across Connecticut, with learning environments that include, our Urban Agriculture Education Site, Keney Park, green spaces throughout Connecticut, and neighboring parks and nature centers. These diverse sites allow participants to engage with land-based learning in both urban and natural settings.
Workshops & Training

Our workshops follow the growing and food cycle, offering seasonal, hands-on learning opportunities that build knowledge over time. Topics may include food propagation, soil health, composting, pollinator support, indigenous agricultural knowledge, mindfulness practices, and food preservation.
Educator Support

Support and sustain a network of passionate, experienced educators, strengthening community learning ecosystems and increasing collective capacity to create change, inspire awe, and ensure this work continues beyond any single program or organization.
Supporting Education

Through partnerships with schools and youth-serving organizations, AWE provides age-appropriate, experiential learning opportunities that introduce students to agriculture, ecology, and wellness. These programs support early engagement, environmental stewardship, and long-term interest in land-based learning.
Workforce Development

We aim to lead in the growth of training adolescents and adults for careers in sustainable agriculture and ecology.
Community Collaboration

Collaboration is central to AWE. We partner with nonprofits, schools, and community institutions to co-design programming rooted in local priorities and lived experience. These partnerships allow us to deliver relevant, accessible programming that reflects the needs of each community.
Volunteer Integration

Volunteers play a vital role in AWE programming, supporting workshops, youth education, land stewardship projects, and community events. Through meaningful engagement, volunteers help strengthen learning environments and deepen community connection.
