About Us

The AWE Program is an initiative of the Keney Park Sustainability Project, connecting communities to the natural world through hands-on learning in agriculture, wellness, and ecology. Participants engage in activities that build practical skills, encourage healthy living, and deepen environmental awareness. From growing food and exploring nature to practicing mindfulness and community care, the program helps individuals and families strengthen their connection to the land and to one another.

"We are reconnecting people to the healing power of nature. Let's embrace the outdoors."

AWE

Our Vision

Our vision is to build on what has made the Keney Park Sustainability Project (KPSP) programming so impactful by focusing on program pillars including workshops, nutrition demonstrations, school curriculums , and experiential learning.AWE expands this work beyond Hartford, bringing programs to parks and green spaces across Connecticut. This initiative allows KPSP to share its successful model with new communities while maintaining the same focus on access, education, and empowerment in communities we serve now.  AWE represents the next step in KPSP's mission to connect people with the land, with each other, and with healthier ways of living.

Our
Mission

The AWE Program empowers communities through hands-on training, educational outreach, and collaborative partnerships that connect people to the land, food, and wellness. Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of healthy, skilled, and environmentally conscious citizens by providing opportunities for learning, growth, and self-reliance in parks, schools, and green spaces across Connecticut. The Agriculture, Wellness, and Ecology (AWE) Program is an initative of the Keney Park Sustainability project (KPSP) and an evolution of its long-standing educational programming. Developed through ongoing community conversations, AWE was shaped by the voices and learning, and wellness and connection to nature.
